Against All Odds
Following the enormous success of "Big Band on the Run", and to celebrate the Big Band's ever-expanding repertoire, sessions took place during August and September 2004 for this release.
Nightfly Studios was again the venue, and the result a 15-track CD featuring some of the best Big Band charts of recent years - many originally written for the BBC Big Band, Phil Collins' Big Band and NYJO.
The Big Band's 20-piece string section also features on several tracks, making this the most orchestral of our CDs to date.

Dancing through the Decades
At the invitation of the Rotary Organisation in Brentwood, the BB returned in 2005 for a third time to Nightfly Studios and laid down some new tracks for this special limited-edition CD, coupling these tracks to previously-released material from earlier, long out-of-print BSBB CDs such as 1989's The Way We Were and 1991's Tape's Rolling. Taking as our cue the concept of music from each of the decades from the 1920s to the present day, eighteen tracks portray the musical evolution of Big Band music from Dixieland to Jazz-Funk.

Big Band On The Run
The first Big Band CD for the new Millennium saw the BB using Nightfly Studios in Southend for the first time – a location to be used again for the next two CDs. The intention was to record as wide a variety of material as possible, with arrangers from the BB being used for the first time alongside DP himself. A larger percentage of vocal tracks made this the most wide-ranging CD to date, with the addition of the BB’s string section adding another layer of sound. As always, the music reflects the whole range of Big Band material available, from Artie Shaw and Glenn Miller through to James Brown and Quincy Jones, with the usual film and TV themes that the BB specialises in. And for those who enjoy Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, here are New York, New York, Me and My Shadow, Fly me to the Moon, Bad Bad Leroy Brown and – of course – My Way.
